ATILLA INCECIK is a Professor of Offshore Engineering and Head of Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland.

Professor Incecik obtained his BSc in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering in 1975 from the Technical University of Istanbul and his PhD in Ocean Engineering in 1982 from the University ofGlasgow. He has been involved with teaching and research concerning the theoretical and experimental hydrodynamics and hydro-mechanics of floating offshore structures over the last thirty-three years. Professor Incecik has published over 80 papers in his area of research during the last 10 years. He was Lloyd’s Register Professor of Offshore Engineering and Head of School of Marine Science and Technology at the University Newcastle upon Tyne between May, 1996 and September, 2007. Professor Incecik was Chairman (2002-2005) and member (2005-2008) of the Executive Committee of the International Towing Tank Conference. He is currently Editor-in-Chief of Ocean Engineering Journal.



STEPHEN BALINT PE, M.ASCE, D.OE, is currently Project Delivery Manager with Sabah Shell Petroleum Company Ltd. He joined Shell Shell Oil Company in 1980 and has worked in the offshore arena ever since. He hold degrees in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech andTulane University. Steve has experience in the design and project management of fixed, floating and arctic production systems, and has been active in API, ASCE and OTC, where he is currently a member of the board. Steve is married with three children and enjoys travel and sport.




Joined IIT Madras in 1970 in the Dept of Civil Engineering. Currently Professor in the Department of Ocean Engineering.  Holds Masters Degree in Physics (Kerala), Masters Degree in Engineering (by research),( IIT Madras) and PhD in Ocean Engineering (IIT Madras). Since joining the Department of Ocean Engineering in 1981, headed a core group of faculty to plan and install major experimental facilities in the Department. 

Areas of research interests are, Structural Diagnostics, Mechanical Measurements, Sensors and Experimental Hydrodynamics.  Co-ordinated a number of important projects, which included development of special purpose Instrumentation.   Published about 85 papers in different Journals and Conferences and guided several students for doctoral and Masters’ degrees.
