Duncan McKenzie Frazer, Ph.D.

Duncan McKenzie Frazer, Ph.D., is a Professor of Faculty Engineering & the Built Environment at University of Cape Town, South Africa. He has been involved in a number of initiatives concerning teaching and also developing his faculty’s curriculum into an outcomes basis. He has authored and coauthored over 100 papers on chemical process engineering and engineering education and presented in several conferences throughout the South Africa and abroad.

Dr. Frazer received the B.Sc. (Chem. Eng), degree in 1967 and the Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering in 1977, both from University of Cape Town, South Africa. He has won Brodie Award, Special Commendation, Best Paper, 6th World Congress of Chemical Engineering in 2001 and also Silver Medal, SAIChE in 1967.

Karl Smith, Ph.D.

He is a Cooperative Learning Professor of Engineering Education, Department of Engineering Education, Purdue University; and Morse-Alumni Distinguished Teaching Professor and Professor of Civil Engineering, University of Minnesota. His research and development interests include building rigorous research capacity in engineering education, the role of cooperation in learning and design; problem formulation, modeling, and knowledge engineering; and project and knowledge management and leadership. His bachelor’s and master’s degrees are in metallurgical engineering from Michigan Technological University (1969 & 1972) and his Ph.D. is in educational psychology from the University of Minnesota (1980) (details)
